Ipswich Tomcats U18 Junior Men
Player of the Month Award 2006/7

February 2007 - Luke Fry

Luke Fry started the month on the sidelines with a back injury that threatened to keep him out of action for the remainder of the season. However, with Michael Holbrook's horrifying injury and Jacob Swift being unavailable for selection for two games Luke made a comeback.

In games against Nene Valley and Leicester Dynamite Luke enjoyed his two best games of the season whilst reminding everyone why he was voted the teams MVP last year. In the Leicester game Luke hit the biggest shot in Tomcats history, his 4-point play on the buzzer meant the team won the game by a single point and stepped closer to the play-offs.

January 2007 - Aaron Moseley

The Tomcats have had a difficult couple of months. Although undefeated in the league since October the team has only played two competitive games since the start of December. Both games were fairly comfortable wins and both against the Lincoln Cougars.

Therefore for the second month running announcing a player of the month has not been easy. However, the player that was perhaps our most important player in our only game in January is the player that is perhaps the teams hardest worker - Both in games an in practice - says Head Coach Drane.

December 2006 - Christian Daley
The U18 Men only played one game in December, winning on the road against the Lincoln Cougars. However, Christian Daley did enough in this game, combined with a string of impressive training sessions to earn the award.

Against Lincoln Daley was the catalyst for a three-quarter stretch that saw the Tomcats hold their opponents to just nine points. - Head Coach Nick Drane

November 2006 - Leigh Greenan:
A measure of the outstanding November by Leigh is that he ousted the superb Christian Daley to win the monthly award.

The Tomcats played three league games in November, winning them all and reaching first place in the league. Across those three games Leigh has averaged 40.3 points per game and 18.3 rebounds. The Tomcats only loss in the month came when they travelled to Brixton in the National Cup. Leigh is looking to lead his team into the National Play-Offs, which will be the first time this will have ever been achieved by a Boy's team from Suffolk.

October 2006 - Jacob Swift:
It comes as no great surprise that the October player of the month award has gone to Jacob Swift.

At a pre-season competition in Ware Jacob was outstanding, as the whole team were. Then, in the teams final pre-season game against a selection of senior players from Holbrook Eagles, Jacob scored 22 points in a second half turnaround that saw the Tomcats win by nine points. However, his biggest performance was his 37 point haul against West Herts. Jacob currently leads the team in scoring and steals and ranks second in rebounds and assists.

Nick Drane - Head Coach

September 2006 - Johnathan Parodi

The Tomcats U18 September Player of the Month has been awarded to Johnny Parodi. Johnny was injured for the first month of pre-season and took a while to find his feet within the team.  However, over the past month he has really found his confidence and the result has been Johnny really establishing himself. His performances against Reading and Holbrook were encouraging and he currently leads the team in three-point shooting during pre-season

Nick Drane - Head Coach

August 2006 - Adam Burrows
The August player of the month goes to the player with the most appearances in Tomcats history. Adam Burrows, who was part of the original U14 team, as well as the U16 team last season.

Adam has been in fine form during pre-season and has been one of the teams most improved players. Despite being only 15 years old Adam will be expected to play an important role for the team this season.

July 2006 - Sam Saggers
The first ever U18 Men player of the month award has been presented to Sam Saggers. The fifteen year old guard has not yet missed a session in the six weeks of pre-season and has continued the development that saw him win the Tomcats U16’s Most Improved Player award in 2005/2006.

‘Sam is a tremendous all-round athlete and has worked as hard as anyone on his game in pre-season. By rights, Sam should have another year as an U16, but he is good enough to play U18’s and will be a key player for us this season despite his age’ Nick Drane, Head Coach.
